Priyanka Chopra’s memoir Unfinished has hit the stands and the book that narrates her journey to stardom has quite a few personal revelations that her fans will definitely be intrigued by. The global star even got candid about her botched nose job which made her feel that it wasn’t her anymore.

The Barfi actress in her book recalled how in 2001 what she felt was a lingering cold turned out to be a polyp in her nasal cavity. The diagnosis led to a polypectomy surgery which to Priyanka’s dismay went horribly wrong.

In Unfinished Priyanka writes recalling the incident, “While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasn’t me anymore.”

Post-surgery, Priyanka’s scars ran deeper than her physical appearance.  Writing about how hard it was to recover from the blow she states, “Every time I looked in the mirror, a stranger looked back at me, and I didn’t think my sense of self or my self-esteem would ever recover from the blow.” New to the film industry matters didn’t improve as she was being called ‘Plastic Chopra’ by the public.

The actress who made peace with her slightly different self after a few corrective surgeries added, “While it took a few years of seeing a stranger gazing back at me every time I looked in the mirror, I’ve gotten accustomed to this face. Now when I look in the mirror, I am no longer surprised; I’ve made peace with this slightly different me. This is my face. This is my body. I might be flawed, but I am me.”
