“Producers Threw Me Out Without Reason”- Shilpa Shetty Shares Her Bollywood Journey With An Emotional Post

Shilpa Shetty has been one of those actresses whose stardom goes beyond her career in Bollywood. She had begun her journey into Bollywood when she was just 17 years and she still has her stardom intact, despite many failures and setbacks. There was also a time that we had seen Shilpa very less on the big screen, but the actress reinvented herself and jumped back in her career. Even now, we might not see Shilpa just as often on the big screen, but she is a revered judge for many dance shows and who isn’t a fan of her recipes anyway.

Shilpa has recently shared tit bits about her Bollywood journey through the Humans Of Bombay. She has revealed how she was found and that she had hit a rock at one point. She has also said that there had been producers who threw her out from the projects without any notice. But she leapt back, became a part of the reality show Big Brother, faced racism and yet stayed strong. Read her post here:

“I was this dark, tall and lanky child who had her life pretty much laid out for her. I would finish my graduation and work with my dad. Even though in my heart I felt like I wanted to do something different, something bigger and better, I never felt like I had it in me.
But when I participated in a local fashion show, with my friends, just for fun, I was spotted by a photographer who wanted to click a few photos of me. For me it was a great opportunity to just step out of my comfort zone! To my complete surprise, the photographs came out really well.
That opened the doors of modelling for me. Soon after, a lot of agents approached me and I got offered my first film – the director even came home to convince my father! There was just no looking back from there, I was going onwards and upwards.
But nothing worth having comes easy. I was all of 17 when I entered the industry, I hadn’t seen the world or even understood life completely. With all the success came as much scrutiny and criticism – I wasn’t ready for any of it.
I didn’t know how to speak Hindi at all, I used to shudder at the thought of being in front of the camera. I reached a point in my career where after a few films my career hit a lull. No matter how hard I tried it always felt like I was lagging behind. It’s not easy to be celebrated one moment and ignored the next.
I remember there were a couple of producers, who without any reason, threw me out of their films. The universe was not in my favour at all, but I had to keep trying no matter how much I was being pushed down.
It was at that time that I decided to reinvent, and entered Big Brother. It was a chance to do something different, have a unique experience. But it ended up leaving such a huge impact on my life! I was publicly bullied and discriminated against just because of the country I belonged to. It wasn’t easy – I was all by myself in that house!
But something kept me going – I guess it was the thought that I couldn’t give up, not after reaching this far. When I won, people around me kept telling me, ‘You’ve made us proud.’ That’s when I knew that all of that struggle and persistence was worth it. I had stood up not just for myself, but for all of those who had faced racism in their lives.
My life has been filled with ups and downs. I went from being the shy girl next door to someone who was front and center on the silver screen. There have been some terribly tough times, but there have also been some great accomplishments. But I’ve enjoyed every minute of it! It’s made me who I am today – a strong independent woman, a proud actor, a wife and a mother. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
