Puneet Issar On The Aftermath Of Accidentally Injuring Amitabh Bachchan During Coolie Shoot: Lost About Seven To Eight Films

Mahabharat actor Puneet Issar recently spoke about the aftermath of accidentally injuring Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of their film. Recalling the ill-timed action sequence and the actor’s near-fatal injury that put him in the hospital for months, Puneet said that incident resulted in him losing nearly eight films. Amitabh on the other hand treated him with nothing but kindness when he met him after the accident.

Recalling the shoot for Coolie in Bangalore in 1982 Puneet on an episode of Sa Re Pa Ma Pa Li’l Champs said, “I remember while shooting for 'Coolie', we had to perform this particular action sequence. The timing during the final take did not match and I accidentally injured Mr. Bachchan."

Puneet was sacred of meeting the actor post the accident but when he did Amitabh greeted him warmly and said that he understood what he must be going through. The actor even walked Issar to the gate with his arms around his shoulders to show everyone that there was no bad blood.

Talking about losing work because of the infamous Coolie accident he said, "I lost about seven to eight films after this incident, until 'Mahabharat' came my way. Initially, I was called in for the role of Bhim but I was keen to portray Duryodhan. I recited Duryodhan's dialogue and bagged the role. The rest is history."
