Radhika Madan Opens Up About Irrfan’s Demise; Says ‘We Always Felt He Would Bounce Back’

One of the most talented and adored superstars of the Hindi film industry, Irrfan Khan breathed his last on 29th April. He was taken to the hospital a day before to get treatment for a colon infection. His family was devastated and the entire nation was left heartbroken with his sudden demise. Before bidding the world a final adieu, Irrfan shined on the screen in his last film Angrezi Medium, co-starring Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Radhika, who played the role of Irrfan’s on-screen daughter, opened up about the actor’s demise in a recent chat with Spotboye. She shared, “It took me 2-3 days to grasp it. I was obviously updated about what's happening with him, Homi (Adajania, director) used to keep telling us about his condition. So, in a way we were prepared but still there was always a ray of hope. We always felt he would bounce back, so, when it actually happened, the realisation took place in a few days.”

While it is a massive loss for our country, Radhika feels Irrfan left a great legacy behind to inspire us. Talking about the courage he had, the choices he made and the way he lived his life, the actress stated that we should learn from him. She went on to share how Irrfan was on Angrezi Medium sets. Radhika recalled, “It was him who made everything and everyone comfortable, right from the first day. He always treated me as his equal. All the credit goes to him. He was my dad, he was not The Irrfan Khan- an international star, or a legendary actor but just my dad, and he made sure I felt that way. And I also always looked at him like that when we were on-the-set.”

Angrezi Medium released on 13th March, but theatres were soon shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The film was later re-released on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar and received great reviews.
