The showman of the millennium Raj Kapoor’s ancestral home ‘Kapoor Haveli’ is situated in the Qissa Khwani Bazar. It was built between 1918 and 1922 by the legendary actor's grandfather Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor. On the other hand, tragedy King Dilip Kumar’s ancestral home is also located in the same locality. However, both these buildings are in a dilapidated state. And now, Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has decided to purchase the ancestral houses of the two actors that are facing a demolition threat.

Sufficient funds have been allocated by the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to purchase the two buildings which have also been declared as national heritage of Pakistan.

Dr. Abdus Samad Khan, the head of the department of archaeology stated, an official letter has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar so that the cost of the two buildings can be estimated. Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar were born and were also raised in the same buildings before partition.

The Nawaz Sharif government of 2014 had declared the 100-year-old ancestral home of Dilip Kumar as a national heritage which also lies in the same locality. Khan also informed that the owners of the building tried to demolish them so that commercial plazas could be built as they were situated in a prime location but the archeology department had stopped all their advances because they wanted to preserve the buildings as they had historic importance.
