Raj Kundra bribed Crime Branch officials with Rs. 25 lakhs to avoid arrest in adult film racket: Reports

Raj Kundra’s troubles in the adult film racket in which he was arrested on Monday evening, could soon intensify. According to reports the businessman bribed police officials of the Crime Branch who were investigating the case, to avoid arrest. The bribe angle came to light after one Arvind Srivastava alias Yash Thakur’s firm was named as the kingpin of the whole racket in March by the police according to a Mid-Day report.

Arvind Srivastava’s firm wrote an email to the Anti-Corruption Bureau informing them about Raj Kundra’s bribe of Rs. 25 lakhs to the crime branch officials to avoid arrest. The report claims that the complaint was forwarded to the Mumbai Police in April who refused to comment on the case.

A complaint against Raj was filed in February and he was arrested in the case on 19 July. The police officials in a recently held a press conference commented on the delay in arresting the businessman and said that they were working on obtaining conclusive evidence. Raj Kundra’s office was raided by the police officials on Wednesday. His arrest was based on Whatsapp and email exchanges and evidence procured from tapes, videos, and devices of shoots. Money trails were also chased by the police.

Srivastava’s US based firm Fliz Movies [previously known as Nuefliks,] was reportedly also asked to pay an equal amount after its name cropped up in the case. In March two of Arvind Shrivatava’s bank accounts in Kanpur and Indore were seized amounting to Rs. 4.50 crores.

The adult film content allegedly produced by Raj Kundra in Mumbai was uploaded on three apps Nuefliks, HotHit and Hotshots apps. Srivastava is also said to have financed a few of these films as revealed by one of the accused arrested in the case.

As for the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s role, the agency couldn’t initiate action since money had already exchanged hands when they received the complaint and therefore Mumbai Police were looped in to investigate the matter. The email in question is said to have WhatApp chats proving bribery charges but Raj Kundra’s name isn’t mentioned in them according to the publication.
