Deepika Padukone is all set to play acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in her upcoming film Chhappak that is being helmed by Raazi director Meghna Gulzar. DP impressed one and all with her first look from the movie that she shared many weeks back and it only heightened the excitement of fans to watch her bring Laxmi Agarwal's story to the big screen. Actor Vikrant Massey has been roped in opposite Deepika in the film and many leaked videos from the sets of Chhapaak the two can be seen shooting around Delhi.

The startling revelation Rajkummar Rao revealed on a chat show recently that he was approached for the film before Vikrant was roped in. Sadly, Rajkummar who gave a super hit like Stree in 2018, has a jam-packed schedule and could not manage dates for the project. Rajkummar and Ishaan Khattar came together for Neha Dhupia chat show, Vogue’s BFFs and on rejecting Chhapaak the actor said, “I didn’t turn it down. Of course not! I loved that script but my dates were so messed up. I’m so looking forward to that film. I kept telling Meghna and Deepika that it’s my loss.”

It certainly hits us bad that we missed out on the golden opportunity to see Deepika and Rajkummar in a film together, but let’s not lose hope as there’s always the next time.  Chhapaak is scheduled for a release on 10 January 2020 and will be clashing with Ajay Devgn’s Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior at the box office.

Deepika Padukone is currently in French Riviera where she will be making an appearance at the Cannes 2019 red carpet soon.
