Rajkummar Rao’s Chhalaang And Kiara Advani Starrer Indoo Ki Jawani Eyeing A Theatrical Release? Deets Inside

While some filmmakers decided to wait for theatres to reopen amid the pandemic, many others opted for a direct digital release for their much-awaited projects. For instance, films such as Gulabo Sitabo, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Shakuntala Devi released on OTT platforms and fans got a chance to enjoy their premieres in the comfort of their homes. Well, latest reports suggest that theatres may reopen in the upcoming 4^th phase of ‘unlock’. In fact, Chhalaang and Indoo Ki Jawani may be among the first few films to shine on the silver screen!

According to a report in Mid-Day, a source revealed that makers of the films are considering Gandhi Jayanti for releasing their much-awaited projects. The source was quoted saying, “Now, the team is eyeing an October 2 release for the T-Series produced film. The discussions, however, are in the nascent stage as there is uncertainty about the reopening of cinemas. If all goes well, Chhalaang, which is presented by the studio, too will hit the marquee, though its release date has yet to be ascertained.”

Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Chhalaang is a social black comedy directed by Hansal Mehta, which was initially slated to hit theatres in January this year. However, it was pushed to 13^th March and later postponed to release on 12^th June. Indoo Ki Jawani, on the other hand, is a coming-of-age comedy featuring Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal in the lead. It follows the story of a girl from Ghaziabad, her experiences and misadventures with dating apps.
