Late superstar Irrfan Khan left us many super hit films and versatile performances to remember him by. May it be Piku, The Lunchbox, Hindi Medium, Paan Singh Tomar, Maqbool or Qarib Qarib Singlle-- the actor always had something new and unique to offer, each time he shined on the big screen. However, in his 32 year long career, there were many projects that he rejected or maybe lost to another actor. One such film, which has recently been making headlines, was Daud.

Back in 2018, Manoj Bajpayee had claimed that he, Irrfan and Vineet Kumar had auditioned for the role of Paresh Rawal’s sidekick. In the end, Manoj had landed the role. Well filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who helmed the film, has now clarified that Irrfan was never in the race for the film. In a chat with Spotboye, he stated, “No, Irrfan was never considered for Daud. I didn’t even know him when Daud was being made. I had seen Manoj in Shekhar Kapoor’s Bandit Queen and offered him the role in Daud.”

Talking about how they met much later, RGV shared, “We were introduced long after Daud. We never worked together. I don’t know why!  It’s just one of those things that never happened. I regret it now. We would have created a special magic together. I think he was an actor who could do anything.”

We completely agree with him. Irrfan Khan really could do anything!
