Ram Gopal Varma On His Biopic Ramu: ‘I Will Be Completely Naked, In Terms Of Storytelling’

Popular filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is all set to feature in his 3 part biopic titled Ramu, written and supervised by him, produced by Bommaku Murali and directed by debutant Dorasai Teja. He has promised that the film will be ‘very very controversial’ and ‘TOO HOT’. The first part will revolve around his college days, first loves and gang fights in Vijaywada, whereas the second part will be about his life in Mumbai with girls, gangsters and Amitabh Bachchan. The third part, on the other hand, will see RGV portray his own character and it will tell us all about his failures and radical thoughts on God, sex and society.

In a recent chat with Mid-Day, the filmmaker revealed that he will be addressing many controversies in his film, including link up rumors and the time he visited Taj Hotel in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, with former Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh. He shared, “Apart from other things, the biopic will reveal specific details of what happened when Riteish [Deshmukh] and I had visited the Taj Hotel. I have never spoken about some of these things, because doing so at the time wouldn’t have been right. Part three will have sex, and controversies. I have led a colourful life, and the offering will shed light on some of my relationships. That will be the most interesting part, I suppose.”

The filmmaker went on to add, “Nobody wants to see me naked, but I will be completely naked, in terms of storytelling, here. I have told them [the team] about the events of my life, but they have done their research too by speaking to those who have assisted me over the years.” The film will reportedly go on floors in September this year. Varma stated that he is playing himself and not a character, so it can’t be termed as acting. He went on to add that he’s glad someone else is making the film because if he himself made a film based on his life, it would have been ‘boring’ and he would have seemed pompous.
