Rang De Basanti Actor Siddharth Detained By Police In Chennai Over CAA Protests

Just a day after Siddharth posted a tweet announcing that he has been getting threats in relation to his strong stance against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, the Rang De Basanti actor has been detained by the police in Chennai. Siddharth is among the 600 people who were detained by police following the protests at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai.

Siddharth is not the only notable name in the list of the 600 detainees. A Tweet frim ANI stated, “Police has filed a case against 600 protesters, including Actor Siddharth, musician TM Krishna, MP Thirumavalavan & MH Jawahirullah, who gathered at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai yesterday to protest against #CitizenshipAct.”

The agency further informed, “The case has been filed as Chennai Police had revoked permission for the protest to be held against #CitizenshipAct in Valluvar Kottam yesterday, still, the protest was held in Valluvar Kottam.”

While the fate of the detainees hangs in balance, the protest against CAA is gaining momentum in the whole country. Even from Bollywood, many celebrities have spoken openly and some like Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhaskar, Sushant Singh had also attended the protests in Mumbai.
