Rangoli Chandel Says Kangana Believes Deepika Padukone Can Be A 'Mediocre Actor', Calls Her JNU Visit A Publicity Stunt

Yesterday, Deepika Padukone made a statement by joining in the ongoing protests in Jawaharlal Nehru University against the violence by masked students. The violence on Sunday led to many students, including JNUSU President Aishee Ghosh, sustaining injuries. While she and former President Kanhaiya Kumar were shouting slogans of ‘Azaadi’, Deepika Padukone too joined them at the University premise, standing behind Aishee and showing her support towards the movement.

This is especially a powerful statement because no other A-lister had shown the courage to stand for the Students’ Movement, especially with her film releasing this month. Many have expressed that they would boycott Chhapaak while most people have hailed her and tweeted in support of her. In fact, director Anurag Kashyap put her picture from JNU as the profile picture on his Twitter handle.

Looks like even Rangoli Chandel, and Kangana Ranaut too are in support of her. When user on Twitter alleged that Deepika might have secretly met with Dawood Ibrahim to take money to produce Chhapaak (Deepika is the producer of this film), she came to her support and asked him to apologise. But her support was quite offhanded. She first said that Kangana finds her to be ‘a mediocre actor’ and the ‘biggest PR queen’. Check out her tweets here:

Regarding her support for the JNU students, Rangoli said, “Many people are rattled with her support to tukde gang,no need to over react, it’s her prerogative to promote her film, this has always been the pattern of filmi people, if you fail to see it it’s not their fault, let them do what they want to, we shall do what we think is right.”

She then went on to say that Deepika hasb’t talked about any national issue till now, so standing for JNU students before the release of Chhapaak has to be a PR exercise, “but we should respect Deepika ne openly PR kiya JNU mein.” Check out her tweets:

    Then Rangoli wrote this:
