Ranvir Shorey Detained For 8 Hours After He Took Househelp To Hospital For His Wife’s Delivery

Ranvir Shorey had been detained for 8 hours by Mumbai Police yesterday after he was seen travelling with his househelp. The actor had told the police that they were headed to a hospital where the househelp’s wife was admitted because she was pregnant. He was still taken to the police station for violating lockdown rule and his car was impounded. He also alleged that officer-in-charge told him that child birth is not an emergency.

Ranvir made a series of tweets where he accused the officer-in-charge of Jogeshwari Highway Police Chowki of transgression and high-handedness’. He also added that the officer had decided to ‘file an F.I.R and impound’, which he described as plain harassment! He had tagged Mumbai Police in his tweets and after 8 hours, he had been released from the station!

While replying to a tweet about child-birth not being considered an emergency, he clarified that the officer thought that the pregnant lady and the doctors are enough and the rest were not necessary. However, when the actor said that the hospital needed the husband for the paperwork, the officer simply refused to listen to them.

If that is the predicament actors are facing, we wonder what the situation would be for common man! However, Mumbai Police’s response reinstates our faith in the system!
