Ranveer Singh’s ‘83 Likely To Release On The 37th Anniversary Of The Day India Lifted Its First Cricket World Cup

Ever Singh Kabir Khan had announced that he would be bringing alive the iconic moment of India’s first Cricket World Cup win, we had been excited. The fact that Ranveer Singh will essay Kapil Dev made us even more impatient. The film was ready to release this April, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it had been pushed and the new release date had not been finalized. Now, we seem to have a date when we can expect the film.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the film might get its theatrical release on 25th June, 2020. It would be all the more special since the day would mark the 37th anniversary of the day when India had actually lifted its first Cricket World Cup at the Lords Stadium. A source close to the development was quoted saying, “June 25 is a special day as that’s when India lifted the world cup 37 years back by defeating the West-Indies cricket team at Lords. No better occasion to relive the moment than this day. It’s as if destiny wanted the film to arrive on this particular day.”

The confirmation isn’t there still, since no one is sure about the situation right now. The same source added, “The health scenario of the nation lies above film and its release, and the makers will announce a date only when there is absolute safety for the viewers to visit the cinema halls. Be assured, it wouldn’t release if there is even 1% scare among the audience, as the idea is to get the entire nation to the cinema hall to revisit the iconic day of Indian cricket.” He added that the film might even release on Independence day but that it’s “an option for an extreme scenario, but they are optimistic that things would be back to normal by summer end. A wait and watch scenario is being adopted for now, with a team keeping an eye on the on ground scenario.”

We can be rest assured that the film would release as soon as the situation gets back to normal!
