‘83 is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most awaited films of the year. Featuring an ensemble cast of talented actors including Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani and Ammy Virk among others, the sports drama has been directed by Kabir Khan and was slated to hit theatres on 10th April this year. Sadly, just like many other films, ‘83 has also been put on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Along with an official announcement about ‘83, Ranveer wrote the caption: “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!” Just like the rest of the world, Bollywood has also been struck hard by the pandemic. Other than ‘83 Ranveer’s multi-starrer Takht, directed by Karan Johar, has also been put on hold whereas Akshay Kumar and the team of Sooryavanshi had to postpone the release date of Rohit Shetty’s cop drama indefinitely.

‘83 narrates legendary cricketer Kapil Dev's journey of how he became the captain of the Indian national cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. While Ranveer is portraying the character of the cricketer, Deepika is playing the role of his on-screen wife Romi Bhatia Dev.
