    Renowned Bhajan Singer Narendra Chanchal Dies Due To Prolonged Illness; PM Narendra Modi, Lata Mangeshkar Mourn The Loss

    Narendra Chanchal the renowned devotional singer died in New Delhi at the age of 80. Known for his musical legacy in devotional music, Chanchal was in the hospital for the past three months owning to some health complications and passed away on Friday afternoon.

    The singer whose bhajans and albums were widely loved is being mourned by the entertainment fraternity at large today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also joined those mourning Narendra Chanchal’s death and posted a tweet as a tribute to the late singer.

    In Hindi, the Prime Minister wrote, “ Deeply saddened after hearing of popular bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal. With the vigor of his voice, he made his distinct identity in the field of devotional songs. In this hour of grief, my condolences are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”


    Lata Maneshkar and Daler Mehndi led the music fraternity in mourning the huge loss to the music fraternity.  Actor Ranvir Shorey, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, cricketer Harbajan Singh also tweeted their condolences on hearing the unfortunate news.

    Apart from devotional music, Chanchal also sang a few songs in Bollywood films. His song Beshak Mandir Masjid' from the 1973 film Bobby had also earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Playback singer.
