Rhea Chakraborty Claims She Was Forced By NCB Into Making 'Self-Incriminatory Confessions', Retracts All Statements

Rhea and Showik Chakraborty have both applied for bail in a special court after their initial bail plea was denied by a magistrate they were produced in front of post their individual arrests.

Rhea in her plea has said she was forced by the Narcotics Control Bureau into making “self-incriminatory confessions” and with an application, on September 8 she has formally retracted all such incriminatory confessions according to Hindustan Times.

The special court will be hearing Rhea and Showik’s bail petition today, September 10. In her bail application Rhea who is presently lodged in the Byculla jail has also commented on NCB’s interrogation and said, “There was not a single lady officer who interrogated the present applicant as mandated by law. The Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Sheela Barse VS State Maharashtra, has held that the interrogation of females should be carried out only in the presence of a female police officer/constable.”

Rhea has been booked by the NCB under Section 27 A of the NDPS Act for financing and procuring illicit drugs in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Through the bail application Rhea’s lawyer Satish Manshinde has questioned application of the said section which accounts for a non bailable offence.  “The allegations against the present accused would at the most make out a case of purchasing a small quantity of drug which is in essence a bailable offence. There is not a shred of evidence to connect the applicant with financing any illicit traffic or harbouring any offender and hence the ingredients of Section 27 A of the NDPS Act are not made out in present facts and circumstances,” states her lawyer’s plea.

Apart from Rhea and Showik, the NCB also arrested Dipesh Sawant, Sushant’s cook and Samuel Miranda, the actor’s house manager who have all applied for bail and will have to remain in judicial custody till September 23 if bail is denied.
