Richa Chadha On Deciding To Settle Defamation Case Against Payal Ghosh: Can’t Put A Price On My Reputation

Richa Chadha has won her defamation case against actress Payal Ghosh. The actress who decided to take the legal route after her named was dragged in a Me too allegation on filmmaker Anurag Kashyap decided she would settle her case with Payal after getting an unconditional apology in front of the Bombay High Court.

The Fukrey star has now spoken about why she decided to settle the case with Payal instead of seeing the case through and making her pay damages. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror Richa said that the case to her wasn’t about the money but about respect.

"The court has constantly recorded what is right and I’d not hold Twitter over the court. It is not just an apology; it is the consent terms as an undertaking, which is sacrosanct. My fans may want more, but this was not about money, only about my respect," the actress told the publication.

Adding to her point she added, "Out of respect for the court and the proceedings on October 7, I decided not to press for monetary compensation. It was not about money anyway. You can’t put a price on my reputation. I had sued for Rs 1.1 crore, which is very close to the bare minimum in a defamatory case in the Bombay High Court. I didn’t start it, but I have certainly finished it."

Richa might have settled with Payal but her case against KRK and a Telugu news channel is still to reach a conclusion.
