Rishi Kapoor died this morning due to leukaemia. The actor was one of the most popular leading men of the yesteryears. He has left behind a legacy that cannot be surpassed ever.

At the end of the day, he was a human being and like many of us, he too had his own regrets. One of the biggest regrets of his life is not working with Gulzar.

The actor has worked with the best directors, and most of his films have been written by Salim-Javed, but not one of his films have been written by the inimitable Gulzar. Gulzar, on the contrary, made sure his films portrayed the reality in a way that touched the raw never. His films were devoid of all the glitz and glamour and the star quality that makes for a commercial potboiler, films which Rishi Kapoor always was part of.

Yes, even in his biography Khullam Khulla, he has made it pretty apparent. It was said, if there is one person that Rishi Kapoor really wanted to be a reader of his book, it is perhaps Gulzar.

Well, Gulzar just lived next door to Rishi’s own dwelling. But the strange part is that in spite of being neighbours, Gulzar hasn’t written or even worked with him. Not even once.  "It perplexes me, in fact, that I have never socially met a man who is practically my next-door neighbour in Pali Hill." That's not it. What's even worse, according to Kapoor, is that Gulzar hasn't ever "written a song, a dialogue or a single line"

Whatever is the case, to cut the chase, this ardent wish of Rishi Kapoor remains unfulfilled and now even if realisation dons on Gulzar saab, it is a bit too late.
