Back in 2020 before the lockdown was imposed due to the outbreak of coronavirus, filmmaker Rumi Jaffery had planned to helm a romantic comedy which would bring Sushant Singh Rajput and his actress girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty together on the big screen. The three had thought about taking the project on floors in May, but the pandemic played a villain and all shoots were cancelled. After Sushant’s untimely and sudden demise in June, many celebrities approached the filmmaker to talk about the project.

In a recent chat with Peeping Moon, when asked if he plans to revive the project, the filmmaker shared: “When Sushant passed away, many actors and producers approached me and asked about the film. It is a known fact that Sushant was very choosy about his films. Since he approved my film and did the reading at my residence, people were sure that the script is good. But whenever I opened the script, I could only and only visualise Sushant and that bothered me.”

He went on to add, “For now, that's a closed chapter for now. After Chehre, I'll think about it. As of now, nothing is decided. I'll see whether I'll make the film and if I do, who will star in it.” Jaffery’s directorial Chehre, featuring Rhea alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, will release in theatres on 27th August.
