Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Emraan Hashmi And Other Bollywood Stars Who Made It Big In The Digital Space

Back at the turn of the millennium, Amitabh Bachchan showed the way when he stepped into the world of television with Kaun Banega Crorepati. Now almost 20 years down the line, there is yet another revolution taking place in the digital medium with more and more stars and superstars making their debut. Let's take a look.

Manoj Bajpayee - The Family Man

This week, Manoj Bajpayee makes his debut in the web series arena with The Family Man. The actor is known for his characteristic style in front of the camera and the series gives him ample scope to juggle between being a middle class family man and a spy masquerading as a government officer. Promo of this Raj & DK series has already met fantastic reactions all over.

Emraan Hashmi - The Bard Of Blood

This is one appearance that is much awaited. Emraan Hashmi is a good actor but unfortunately it has been rather long since he had a good commercial success in Bollywood. However, the wait should be over when he makes his web series debut with The Bard Of Blood, an action thriller. Moreover, Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies is producing the series which makes it special.

    Akshay Kumar - The End

While majority of stars entering the world of digital streaming are the ones who haven't seen a Bollywood success for a while, Akshay Kumar is the only superstar who is featuring in a web series while being at the top of his game. The actor works at an average of three to four films a year and in the middle of this all would feature in Vikram Malhotra's action thriller The End.

Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pankaj Tripathi - Sacred Games - Season 1 and 2

When Saif Ali Khan decided to do Sacred Games, many wondered if this was the right move. However, the actor made a superb impression with his web debut and has just been seen in the second season. As for Nawazuddin Siddiqui, he rocked the show all over again. As for Pankaj Tripathi entering the second season, it turned out to be rather underwhelming experience.

Abhishek Bachchan, Amit Sadh and Saiyami Kher - Breathe 2 - Season 2

Madhavan had already impressed big time in his web series Breathe. While his character died in the first season, the second season has Abhishek Bachchan making his debut on this new medium. Vikram Malhotra has managed a casting coup by uniting Abhishek with Amit Sadh (from Season 1) while also bringing Mirzya girl Saiyaami Kher. Shooting has already been wrapped.

    Dia Mirza – Kaafir

It was after a hiatus that Dia Mirza was seen as a central protagonist on screen. Though last year she appeared as Ranbir Kapoor's on-screen wife in Sanju, one waited to catch her in a much meatier part. That wait was over with Kaafir where she played a Kashmiri woman trapped between the politics of India and Pakistan. It was a heartfelt performance from her.

    Kunal Khemu – Abhay

Kunal Khemu has done well with Golmaal series and recently also impressed everyone as a surprise package of Kalank. Meanwhile, he went ahead and did the entire season of Abhay which was on the same lines as crime series from the West, True Detective. He gave a very good controlled performance in the Ken Ghosh directed series and one awaits the second season now.

Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha and Tanuj Virwani - Inside Edge

When Inside Edge streamed on the digital platform, it made everyone sit up and notice the entertainment that it brought with it. With producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani bringing class and mass appeal together, there was a big screen feel that one got when Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha and Tanuj Virwani came together. No wonder, the second season is much awaited.

Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Divyendu Sharma and Pankaj Tripathy – Mirzapur

This was yet another series from Excel Entertainment that earned good fan base. Ali Fazal based his character on Sanjay Dutt from Naam, Vikrant Massey reprised Kumar Gaurav's part, Pankaj Tripathy was on the same lines as Paresh Rawal and as for Divyendu Sharma, he shocked audience with an act that was poles apart from his Liquid act in Pyaar Ka Punchnama.

Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalki Koechelin and Jim Sarbh - Made In Heaven

Akhtar family has successfully diversified into the digital medium as Zoya Akhtar earned quite some accolades with Made In Heaven. The realistically entertaining series was unveiled a few months back and won good appreciation. As for Sobhita Dhulipala, the show's star, she found a lifeline with this one. Jim Sarbh impressed again and Kalki Koechelin showed her reliability.

    Nimrat Kaur - Test Case

Test Case was one of the earlier web series that made an impression on being unveiled. Nimrat Kaur played the part of an army officer and gave a good account for herself where she had to showcase her character's strengths as well as vulnerabilities. Ekta Kapoor has been quite prolific in making number of web series and would soon be putting together Test Case - Season 2.
