Saif Ali Khan On Rumours Of Him Paying Rs. 800 Crore To Get Pataudi Palace Back: “It’s A Massive Exaggeration"

Saif Ali Khan is termed a Nawab, a rightly so. His grandfather had been a Nawab and the family has a palace in Pataudi, which has been named after his forefathers. But, his life has not always been the bed of roses like we would imagine it to be. Earlier, he had opened up about how he had to buy back the palace. Rumours did the rounds that he paid a whopping Rs. 800 crores to get it back! Now, he has not just opened up about what Pataudi Palace means to him but also addressed the rumours.

Talking about the rumours, the actor dismissed it as a 'massive exaggeration' and a 'miscommunication'. He said, "It’s impossible to put a value to it in monetary terms because emotionally, the property is priceless. My grandparents and father are buried there, there’s security, serenity and a spiritual connection there for me. The land goes back by a few centuries but the palace that my grandfather built for my grandmother is around a few hundred years old."

The actor had been at the Palace with wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and son Taimur, but returned to Mumbai yesterday. While the agreement to turn it into a hotel was amicable, he wanted the palace back and so worked hard for it. He adds, “The books are back in place and my father’s cricket photographs are up on the walls. It was fun watching Taimur play hide-and-seek among the trees, and feed squirrels biscuits. He’s developing country interests and is no longer scared of bugs, lizards or the black ants, that he now watches run up his arm with wonder.”

That's the perfect kind of life, isn't it?
