Saif Ali Khan On SRK's Recent Slump: There’s A Certain Resilience To A 90’s Actor, Just A Question Of Finding That Right Project

There’s no denying that despite Shah Rukh Khan’s recent slump in Bollywood the superstar’s next film is on the minds of millions of movie buffs. The actor is taking his own sweet time to announce a new project after his film Zero tanked at the box office in 2018 and now it has been a year and a half of just waiting. While SRK does that his Kal Ho Naa Ho co-star Saif Ali Khan spoke about his career trajectory and that of the other two Khans, Salman and Aamir, as well.

Speaking on the subject at the India Today Conclave the Tanhaji star said that since Shah Rukh Khan is associated with a certain kind of era and cinema he needs to re-adjust. He also said that that is probably why the actor also fails in his experiments as his fans see SRK reminiscent of a certain era.

"SRK, if he is finding a little bit of a tricky time on which film to do or how to be seen, I don't know I was thinking about it the other day. Maybe he is so strongly identified with a certain era and becoming the face of Bollywood, on many different platforms. So he has become synonymous with a certain era and when that era passes, you probably need to re-adjust. But he, like all of them, are amazing survivors,” Saif said during the interaction.

“You can’t write anybody off, there are good times bad times and they have seen it all. There’s a certain resilience to a 90’s actor let me tell you and it’s just a question of finding that right project.”

Also commenting on Salman Khan and Aamir, Saif said, “Salman was a superstar from the first shot he gave. Aamir has always made good cinematic choices, he pioneered so many new things”.

Saif’s two films released early on in the year Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Jawaani Jaaneman both of which did good business at the box office.
