Saina: Parineeti Chopra Says She Had Called Priyanka Chopra After Signing The Film, Reveals She Wasn't Into Sports As A Kid

Parineeti Chopra is having a dream run right now. The actress was seen as the victim of gaslighting in the Netflix film, The Girl On The Train. Just a few weeks later yesterday, she was seen playing an absconding bank director in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and next week, she will double up as Saina Nehwal in her biopic Saina. This would be the first time we will see Parineeti in a biopic and her fans are excited for what they would be up for. Now, the actress has opened up about the advice she received from cousin Priyanka for playing the role.

Talking to Pinkvilla, the actress revealed that Priyanka Chopra was one of the first people she had called after signing the film. Priyanka had also transformed into Mary Kom for her biopic and that was the reason why Parineeti felt it would be wise to ask her for advice. She revealed, “I spoke to her about the look a lot, because you know even she doesn't look exactly like Mary Kom, but she transformed herself and looked like her in the film. So I spoke about the look a lot, and she was also of the opinion that ‘don’t do prosthetics, just mould your body like Saina’s and get the body language right’. So of course she had a lot of tips.”

She also revealed that as a child, she was never into sports. She added, “In fact, my parents tried very hard to put me into different sports, but I was a very academic and creative person. I used to take part in a lot of debates and declamations, and I was head of the choir, I was also the head girl. I used to do a lot of plays, so I was very creative and academic but never got into sports. But for sure, I would have loved it if growing up I was into some sport.”

Saina, directed by Amole Gupte is all set to hit theatres next week, on the 26th of March.
