Sanjay Leela Bhansali has called off his upcoming project Inshallah and the pang of disappointment fans got from the news is still to wear off. The film starring Alia Bhatt and Salman khan was to release on Eid 2020 and all was on track till Bhansali’s production house tweeted that the film is not happening. While we are still figuring out what happened all of a sudden, Salman Khan has come out and spoken about Ishallah being called off and assured that all well between him and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Everyone knows that SLB and Salman have had a rocky friendship after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and so when the film got called a speculation of a rift between the two had to be a natural assumption. It was especially believable since Salman also hinted that he would be releasing Kick 2 on Eid 2020 instead.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror Salman clarified “Sanjay was a friend even before we started working on Khamoshi. He had come to meet me through Manisha Koirala. After that, we collaborated on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. When he came to me with this film, I liked it and we decided to work together again. One thing I can say it that Sanjay won't do gaddaari with his film. I want him to make the film he wants to make. Nothing changes between us as friends and I'm sure nothing has changed in Sanjay's heart for me. I'm extremely close to his mother and sister. I wish him all the best. He and I will work in the future on a film, Inshallah."

At least the statement has left us with some hope of a future collaboration between the actor and director.  Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan have worked on three films together so far incluing the director’s debut in 1996 Khamoshi: the Musical, the 1999 mega hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Saawariya in 2007.

The reasons of Inshallah being scrapped are best known to them but we hope that it doesn’t take another 12 years for their collaboration to happen.
