Sangeeta Bijlani was offered her first film when she jumped off a moving bus pretending to be a 'hero'; Here's what happened

Sangeeta Bijlani may have been away from the big screen for some time now but it is still raining offers for her the actress revealed. She got candid about her career and success and revealed that she got the first ever film offer of her life when she was still in school.

During an interaction with ETimes, the actress who debuted in the 80‘s revealed that she was tomboy back when she was in school and was spotted by filmmaker when she hopped off bus without it coming to a halt at the stop. The actress said, “I got my first film offer when I jumped off a moving bus. I was a tomboy in school and I used to accompany my mom wherever she went. We used to travel by bus or train. One such day, before the bus could even reach the stop, I jumped off the moving bus pretending to be a hero and started running.”

The actress added that a filmmaker saw her pulling off this small stunt and approached her saying, ‘Mujhe tumhare saath picture karni hai (I want to make a film with you)’ and offer which she and her mother declined at the time and then had a good laugh over it at home.

Sangeeta was eventually convinced to make her acting debut by Rajiv Rai who cast her in Tridev during her modeling days. Speaking of her reaction on being offered the film she said, “I was sceptical, because you hear so many things about the film industry and then you are scared about it. But he came backstage and met my mom. If you meet Rajiv Rai, you cannot say ‘no’ to him; he’s so sweet and warm that he just instantly changed my perception of the film world.”

Sangeeta went on to sign back to back projects after Tridev. She signed up for J.P. Dutta’s Hathyar and Salim Akhtar’s Qatil both of which hit theatres before the first project she had signed.
