    Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Make A Film On 2019 Balakot Airstrike That Made Wing Commander Abhinandan A National Hero

    The Indian airstrike of Balakot that happened on February 2019 and also led to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman being held captive by Pakistani authorities, is all set to become a big banner Bollywood film. A collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Pragya Kapoor the film has been announced as a tribute to the sons of India and will be directed by Abhishek Kapoor.

    The airstrike was a preemptive move on India’s part against a terrorist training camp in the Balakot region of Pakistan across the Kashmir border. Balakot strike took place on 26 February and Pakistani made was the first to announce the attack which was later confirmed by India. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was caught in firing and held captive for 60 hours by the Pakistani authorities. After his release the nation celebrated him a hero who was also awarded the Vir Chakra in August 2019.

    This year Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike directed by Aditya Dhar which was based on Indian’s 2016 attack made waves at the box office and collected over 200 crores at the box office.


    Trade analyst Taran Adarsh made the announcement of the film on Twitter though more details on the 2019 Balakot Airstrike are awaited including the title.

    The film is likely to go on floors in 2020.
