Shah Rukh Khan Calls Main Hoon Na His Comeback Film; Reveals Farah Thinks Of Him As An ‘Action Hero’

Farah Khan’s action masala Main Hoon Na was not only one of the most loved films of 2004, but also one of the biggest hits of that year. Featuring an ensemble cast of talented actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Sunil Shetty, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao, the film follows the life of Major Ram Sharma, played by SRK, an army officer who goes back to college undercover to protect the Army General’s daughter and find his half-brother. The masterpiece clocked 16 years on 30th April.

In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, Shah Rukh called the film a comeback of sorts because he had just had his spine surgery and had apprehensions about whether he will be able to get back to work. The actor shared that the roof sequence, in particular, was very important for him to nail because he wanted to know if he’s fine after the surgery or not as good as he used to be. Well, after seeing the final result we can assure the superstar that no one could have done a better job at portraying Major Ram Sharma!

The actor also remembered the first time he saw his co-star Sushmita on the sets. In the film, the actress played the role of a chemistry teacher, while SRK was a “student” who was blown away by her and would imagine violins playing around him each time he saw her. In fact, the idea to strike the typical SRK pose with arms wide open was suggested by the actor himself. However, he reveals that he never had to act like he was blown away. He shared, “Actually when Sushmita arrived to work on the film, she looked so stunning and beautiful. In that fur dress, she actually looked like a diva. And really, you didn’t have to act much as she looked so stunning as she walked in. We had a great time shooting it.”

Talking about the film’s director and his BFF Farah Khan, Shah Rukh shared, “Very strangely, Farah thinks of me as an action hero. She is the only director who feels I could be a very cool action hero. She’s done the maximum action with me, be it Happy New Year, Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na.”
