Shah Rukh Khan’s Alibaug Farmhouse Violates The Bombay Tenancy Act, Fined Rs 3 Crores

Déjà Vu Farms, which belongs to Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in law Savita Chhiba and sister-in-law Namita Chhiba, has come under the radar for violations of the Bombay Tenancy Act.

Yes, you read it right, according to a Mumbai Mirror report, the Shah Rukh Khan owned farmhouse has violated the tenancy act!

According to the report, Savita and Namita have been fined Rs 3 crore for one of the farm's properties, a farmhouse with a lavish bungalow that hosted several B-town bashes, including SRK's 52nd birthday. The property is worth Rs 146.7 million.

However, according to a Business Standard report, its market price goes five up to five times the amount. The Mirror report states, for the first time notice was issued on Déjà vu farms on 29th January 2018, by former collector Vijay Suryavanshi.

According to the notice, after the plot was purchased, Raigad's former additional collector had allotted permission for agricultural on it on May 13, 2005. It added that the original farmhouse was soon demolished and new properties were built, which violated Section 63 of the Bombay Tenancy Act.

The Mirror report further states,  a few hearings have taken place on this matter, and on 20th January 2020, the collector issued an order, which states that a fine of Rs 3.09 crore should be deposited as a penalty for violation of rules. Confirming the same, Vijay Suryavanshi, who is now commissioner of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation, said to the daily, "Yes, I issued an order of penalty of Rs 3 crore on the bungalow owner."
