Shah Rukh Khan's Pathan Pushed To 2022 Due To An Overbooked Calendar For 2021?

Shah Rukh Khan fans’ wait to hear the official announcement of his film Pathan has been extended slightly longer. While Yash Raj Films announced the release dates of five big projects lined up for the year SRK’s action entertainer which was being anticipated this year was curiously missing from the lineup.

The pandemic has set Bollywood back an entire year and now that theatres have been allowed operations at 100% capacity all producers and filmmakers have busied themselves in locking the biggest holidays. With several films already in the backburner, YRF has now gone forward and announced release dates of its pending films from last year to span across the calendar and it seems Pathan will have to wait until next year to hit theatres.

Shah Rukh Khan who last was seen on the big screen in Zero in 2018 took his time saying yes to a project and finally began work on Pathan in late 2020. Reports now suggest that the makers are eyeing the first quarter of 2022 to release Pathan. The movie was earlier reported to be eyeing Diwali 2021 for release but the spot has now been occupied by Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj.

With the movie still in the making and several crucial sequences still to be shot it is still uncertain where on a busy calendar like 2021 will the movie make an appearance. Having said that, there is no official confirmation from the makers on these reports yet so there may still be some hope.

Meanwhile, Aditya Chopra’s production house has announced the release dates of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (March 19), Bunty Aur Babli 2 (April 23), Shamshera (June 25), Jayeshbhai Jordaar (August 27) and Prithviraj (November 5) which seems like the entire lineup for the year.

Pathan also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
