Shahid Kapoor shares an update on Jersey’s release date; Calls it a ‘family film’

Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor celebrated 2 years of his super hit film Kabir Singh yesterday by going live on social media to interact with his fans. Also starring the beautiful Kiara Advani, Kabir Singh was helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and was a Hindi remake of his Telugu film Arjun Reddy. The romantic drama received mixed reviews and was also criticized for glamorizing misogyny and toxic masculinity. However, Shahid’s performance was loved by all and the actor was lauded for his versatility and sincerity. Much to our delight, during his live chat the actor also shared an update about his next film Jersey’s release.

Back in January this year, Shahid had announced that the sports drama will premiere on the big screen on 5th November. Well, fans were worried that this may change as the pandemic has played a spoilsport for the theatrical release of many other films. However, the actor confirmed that Jersey will hit theatres on the decided date itself. He stated, “Jersey is ready for its release on the 5th of November, which is the Diwali week. That is pretty much where we are at the moment. We are hoping that theatres will be open by then. We thought which was the latest date we could release the film, and then thought Diwali would be the best idea because it is a family film.”

Also starring Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, Jersey has been written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The sports drama is a remake of his 2019 Telugu film of the same name, which featured Nani.
