Shakeela: Richa Chadha Reveals Why She Wanted To Experiment With This Story

Richa Chadha’s much awaited biopic film Shakeela recently got a release date. Based on the life of the adult actress, the film has been directed by Indrajit Lankesh and is all set to hit theatres on Christmas. Announcing the same on social media, Richa had shared: "Shakeela ki Kahaani Meri Zubaani”. Here’s the #ShakeelaPoster. The film was to release in the summer but couldn't due to the pandemic, so now for on Christmas!

Talking to Mid Day about what made her say yes to the film, Richa shared, “When I heard the script, my first reaction was that her life story is cinematic.” Richa went on to elaborate and stated, “From being humiliated to celebrated, to even having someone trying to get you killed, [she saw it all]. All the while, her loved ones continued to use her fortune and fame. I wanted to experiment with this story.”

The film was supposed to have a summer release this year but the plans for the same got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was then suggested that like many other films, Shakeela too would have a premiere on a digital platform. Well, we are sure fans will be glad that Richa’s film is finally releasing on the big screen this month.
