    Sharad Kelkar reveals he was once shortlisted join the army before, says Bhuj brought him closer to living that dream

    Sharad Kelkar dons the army uniform with pride in his latest film Bhuj: The Pride of India. Headlined by Ajay Devgn the film takes a slice from the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and tells the story of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik and 300 brave heart civilian women who repaired Bhuj destroyed airbase run war overnight to and helped India ward off a crucial attack.

    Known for his versatility as an actor and his powerful voice, Sharad got talking about working in Bhuj and playing a military man during a recent interview. The actor revealed that he once harboured the dream of joining the army and had even applied and got shortlisted.

    “I always wanted to be in the army. In fact, I had applied and got shortlisted also but was disqualified in the last round. So I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t wear the uniform. So when I got a chance to do it in reel life, I thought this was the closest that I could get to do what I wanted to. Playing an army officer is a matter of pride,” Sharad told News 18 while talking about his film Bhuj.

    Sharad plays an army officer posted at the Indo-Pakistan border who leads the defense as Pakistani army breeches the border.

    Bhuj: The Pride of India released on Disney+ Hotstar ahead on the 75th Independence Day.
