Shatrughan Sinha Disses Mukesh Khanna’s Comment On Daughter Sonakshi: Who Appointed Him Guardian Of Hindu Religion?

When Sonakshi Sinha could not answer a question on KBC based on Ramayan, she became the butt of all trolls for a few days. What she could not have anticipated was the fact that the incident would be brought up months later as well. It was just last week that Mukesh Khanna, who played Bhishma in Ramanand Sagar’s Mahabharat, took a jibe at Sonakshi and said that she would benefit from the reruns of Ramayan and Mahabharat since she has no idea about the epics. Now, Sonakshi’s father and veteran actor, Shatrughan Sinha, and Mahabharat’s Duryodhan, Puneet Issar has stood up for the actress and slammed Mukesh Khanna.

Without taking his name, Shatrughan Sinha told Bollywood Hungama, “I am very proud of all my three children. Sonakshi became a star on her own. I never had to launch her career. She is a daughter any father would be proud to have. Not answering a question on the Ramayan doesn’t disqualify Sonakshi from being a good Hindu. She doesn’t need a certificate of approval from anyone.” He further said, “I believe someone has problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly what qualifies this person to be an expert on all things to do with the Ramayan? And who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion?”

Puneet Issar too stood in favour of Sonakshi. Talking to Spotboye, he said, “Khanna shouldn't have said that. Sonakshi is an AVM student, my kids too went there. If she didn't know one question of Ramayan in KBC, the world doesn't end there. Why should one condemn someone so openly? At least I wouldn't have said what Khanna has said. This is my personal opinion. I don't want to speak against him. But think of it, he again sparked off another controversy by speaking against Ekta. Nobody has a copyright over Mahabharat, sabko haque hai usko banane ka. Even Sajid Nadiadwala's grandfather had made a film on Mahabharat and it was a super hit film. Dara Singh was the hero and it was from Bhisham Pita's perspective. As you age, you should be graceful. Phal lagte hain toh pedh jhuk jaana chahiye."
