Shekhar Kapur Doesn't Own A Car Surprises Twitter User, The Filmmaker Has An Eye Opening Response

In the world of glitz and glamour like Bollywood simpletons like filmmaker Shekhar Kapur are hard to come by. A Twitter user was recently amazed by his use of autorickshaws on a regular basis and wrote to him saying, "I derive a strange comfort to know to know that celebs like you still use a rickshaw."

Shekhar Kapur's reply reflects his outlook towards his life in Mumbai and he said he finds a car of no use in Mumbai to prove his self-esteem. The filmmaker wrote back to the user saying, "I don't own a car. It's silly to own a car in Mumbai. It takes 600,000 liters to make an average size car. Shouldn't we use that water to grow food instead?"

He was earlier also trolled about the statement he gave on Twitter which stated that Bollywood celebrities owned more than twenty imported cars. The filmmaker of versatile movies like Bandit Queen, Masoom and Mr. India corrected the man trolling him by giving the statement that he did not need twenty cars to prove his self-esteem. He also explained he did not own a car so he used rickshaws to travel.

Kapur gained international recognition with Bandit Queen, based on the Indian bandit and politician Phoolan Devi, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. It was premiered in the Directors Fortnight section of the 1994 Cannes Film Festival and was also screened at the Edinburgh Film FestivalIn international cinema, his historical biopics on Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, won the BAFTA Award for Best Film and two Academy Awards.
