Shekhar Kapur Says He Has Found The Perfect Cast For Masoom Remake, With An 'Even Cuter' Replacement For Jugal Hansraj

Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom is one of the most loved films of Bollywood. The film that starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi in the lead roles, Jugal Hansraj and Urmila Matondkar as child artists went on to win many accolades and appreciation from all and sundry. People of all age groups have showered love on the film and continue to do that to this very day!

A remake of the film in itself is extremely untoward a thought! But Shekhar Kapur says that he has already found Rahul [originally played by Jugal Hansraj] and he has also asked other filmmakers if they are interested in remaking the film, casting ‘Rahul’ would be very easy! Masoom released in the year 1985 and was a huge success. It was a complex drama of an extra-marital affair of a man [Naseeruddin Shah] who has a loving wife [Shabana Azmi] and two little daughters. Things take a turn for the worse when he becomes a father to a son called Rahul [Jugal Hansraj] from his lover [Supriya Pathak] outside his marriage.

Shekhar Kapur took to his Instagram and said that even though he is not inclined to remake Masoom, he has found the next Rahul. He went on to state, this little guy is, “even cuter than Jugal Hansraj was in Masoom”!

Shekhar wrote, “Anyone looking to make a sequel to Masoom, needs to look no further for the cast! Even cuter than Jugal Hansraj was in Masoom, is his wife Jasmine and Jugal’s son. Sidak.”
