    Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra’s life story is now a blockbuster film and the family of the martyr thinks that the makers of Shershaah did a commendable job of bringing his story to life. While the fans can’t stop raving about Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Adavni’s film, the late Param Vir Chakra awardee’s parents Kamal Kanta Batra, G.L. Batra got talking about the film and the performance of the two actors who played Captin Vimran Batra and his girlfriend Dimple Cheema in the film.

    During a recent interview, Vikram Batra’s father spoke about choosing Sidharth to play their martyred son and told Times of India, “There were many names that came up but eventually Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani were finalised. Like us, Sidharth is a Punjabi Khatri. We were happy with the choice of casting him. Kiara Advani is a good actress who is coming up well. We were fine with her casting too. They had kept us in the loop about their casting.”

    He also praised the makers on a film well made. Apart from Vikram Batra’s sacrifice for the country, his love story with Dimple Cheema also got a lot of attention Mr. Batra also spoke about the real Dimple and revealed that she still keeps in touch with them after all these years.

    “She calls up about twice in a year on our respective birthdays,” he said while adding that they had encouraged her to get married after the war but she refused. “After the Kargil war, we told her to get married as she has a life ahead. Her parents too told her the same. But she told us that she wouldn't get married and live the rest of her life with Vikram's memories,” the parents told the publication.
