Shilpa Shetty Reveals She Was Insecure When Shamita Made Her Debut; Says ‘I Always Felt She's The Better Looking Sister’

Shilpa Shetty is undoubtedly one of the most popular and adored actresses of Bollywood. She ruled hearts in the 90s with her spectacular performances and is all set to wow us yet again with her upcoming projects. That’s right! Shilpa is making her comeback to the silver screen after 13 long years and fans are over the moon with joy. Her gorgeous sister Shamita, on the other hand, has been away from the silver screen for quite some time. Well, much to our delight, the two recently got together and spilled some juicy secrets.

In a chat with Pinkvilla, Shilpa revealed that she was insecure when Shamita made her debut in the Hindi film industry with Yash Raj Films movie Mohabbatein. The beauty shared, “I always felt she's the better looking sister, the fairer one. She's a better actress and a dancer. So I'll admit this for the first time on this show that when she debuted, I did feel that nobody would give me work anymore after that.”

Shamita also opened up about the challenges she faced at the beginning of her career and said, “In school, I was this girl who was athletic and good at sports. When I entered the film industry, it was suddenly different. It was a struggle to find my own identity. I knew about comparisons but the media was really harsh on me.”

The sisters went on to share how they used to fight a lot when they were younger. Shilpa said, “We used to fight a lot when we were kids. There was a time I have locked Shamita inside daddy's cupboard. Then, when she came out, she was mata chandalini (laughs). Then we have had huge fights. She and I have fought, I have thrown a sun mica piece at her and there's a cut on her face.” Shamita went on to add, “Imagine, she's given me a permanent cut and people think I've a temper.”

Shilpa is all set to shine on the big screen once again with romantic action comedy Nikamma, alongside Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia, and will also be seen playing a lead role in Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2, co-starring Paresh Rawal, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash.
