Shraddha Kapoor's Chaalbaaz in London not a remake of Sridevi's film reveals filmmaker, says it's in a 'completely different zone'

Sridevi’s hit Chaalbaaz will soon be turned into a franchise, over three decades after the film’s release. Talking forward the legacy is actress Shraddha Kapoor who stars in Chaalbaaz in London helmed by filmmaker Pankaj Parashar who also directed the original. The film’s announcement earlier in the year was met with a lot of curiosity and the filmmaker has now shed some light on the project revealing what one can expect from it.

Chaalbaaz in London is a totally different film from the original that featured Sridevi in a double role and will not be a remake, Pankaj told Times of India. Though much like the original, Shraddha Kapoor will also have a double role in the project and the movie will use the soundtrack from the Sridevi film.

The filmmaker wants to attempt at making a film ahead of its time. “When I made Chaalbaaz with Sridevi, I wanted the film to be ahead of its time. It’s the same thought with which we’re attempting Chaalbaaz In London. It’s a new film set in a new world that takes all the changes since then into account — with an attempt to use music and the original tracks from Chaalbaaz in a unique way,” he tells the publication about ChaalBaaz in London.

Talking about the challenge of recreating the success of the original the filmmaker said, “We’re not remaking the previous film, but we are attempting a new story in a completely different zone with a new set of characters. It will have a lot of action and a very intense emotional track. As a filmmaker, I love the fact that I have big shoes to fill. Even 30 years later, people have Na Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai on their playlists. I have some sort of a name to live up to, and I happily accept the challenge.”

If all goes well, the Shradhha Kapoor film might go on floors by the end of this year.
