Shreyas Talpade Wonders How Certain Actors Get Work After Back To Back Flops, Reveals He Was Asked To Take A Price Cut

Shreyas Talpade was a head-turner when he made his entry in Bollywood with a promising performance in Nagesh Kuknoor’s Iqbal in 2005. The actor, later on, moved to do comedies like Golmaal and Housefull 2 skillfully making name for himself in the genre. Shreyas, however, feels that his potential has been heavily downplayed in the Hindi film industry and admits that his films have often been subjected to bias.

Talking to News 18, the Poster Boys star spoke about Bollywood’s hypocrisy and said,   “My films bombed at the box office and certain people came and told me, ‘Yaar teri picture pit gayi toh agli picture ka price kum hoga.’ Then there are certain actors whose films bombed one after the other and yet you see them being signed by fantastic directors and you wonder why? This is the disparity which I don’t like. This is some kind of hypocrisy. Just say it in the face that you want that actor for something else and not for his performance. This is very unfair. You cannot have separate set of rules for certain people and separate rules for somebody else.”

Shreyas, however, does feel that OTT platforms have been a harbinger for change. The actor feels that in the digital space it doesn’t matter what the background of the actor is as their talent speaks for them. “Today, Prateek Gandhi (Scam 1992) and Jaideep Ahlawat (Paatal Lok) are bigger stars. All said and done. Phenomenal actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Kay Kay Menon are finally getting their due,” he added.

The is now focused on his newest project, Nine Rasa, which is how own OTT platform launched to promote Indian theatre arts and to ensure that the work reaches worldwide.
