Sidharth Malhotra Promises Marjaavaan To Be An Intense Love Story

In the times when different genres are being experimented with film after film, ironically love story as a genre is not being explored much. Considering the fact that some of the biggest Blockbusters of Bollywood have been love stories, there has been a substantial decline in quality romantic movies being brought on the big screen.

Thankfully, Kabir Singh has brought back audiences to a love story with its new grammar of storytelling and the same is expected from Marjaavaan as well which is the next big love story in the offering. Incidentally, the Gandhi Jayanti release arrives exactly 100 days after Kabir Singh which hit the screens on 21st June.

"Of course, both these films have one common element, and that is intensity," says our source, "Neither Kabir Singh nor Marjaavaan are those sugar coated sweet-n-saccharine romantic tales being told. They have angst, intensity and violence - all rolled up together. Of course since these films are breaking the norm and not quite following the conventional route, there are bound to be debates. However, for audiences there is a different kind of entertainment in the offering and as long as it delivers what it promises, there would be returns as well."

This is what worked in favor of Kabir Singh as well where right at the onset it was pretty much declared that here was a leading man who wasn't really following a moralistically right path and was pretty much into substance abuse while being an alcoholic and a sex addict. Since the message was loud and clear and the censor board too acknowledged that by giving it an A certificate instead of ordering unnecessary cuts, the film was in line with the theme and the genre.

"Same is expected from Marjaavaan as well," comments an insider, "Right at the launch of the film, it was announced that the film is a violent love story with action drama at the core of it. Writer-director Milap Zaveri, who is known for his acidic dialogues and hard hitting treatment, proclaimed on the film's First Look poster - 'Ishq Mein Marenge Bhi, Maarenge Bhi'. Now it's all about living up to the promise because when that happens, audiences don't feel cheated. It's their call whether to come or not but when they do, they should get what they expected."

Well, with the film releasing on 2nd October), one waits to see the kind of intensity that Sidharth Malhotra brings on screen. With Riteish Deshmukh partnering with him again after Ek Villain, and Rakul Preet Singh along with Tara Sutaria as the leading ladies, it would be one solid entertainer in the offering for sure.
