Sona Mohapatra On Anurag Kashyap Facing Me Too Allegations: 'I Am No One To Even Vouch For Even My Own Husband'

The Me Too movement that over time became mute in India has once again been re-stirred in the prime time debates with Anurag Kashyap facing serious allegations of rape from actress Payal Ghosh who claims that the filmmaker forced himself on her back in 2014. Speaking on the issue singer Sona Mohapatra who has been a vocal supporter of women raising their voice by joining the movement says that even though she’s worked with Anurag she cannot vouch for the filmmaker of guarantee his innocence.

The singer during a chat with Barkha Dutt said that she believes that these charges against Anurag need to be investigated while doing away with claims which suggest that the Me Too allegations against him are politically motivated.

Talking about her take Sona tells Barkha, “No where am I saying Anurag is guilty, or Anurag has done this. I’ve worked with Anurag, I’ve never experienced anything odd in his behavior with me, but that is not ever an underlying guarantee that a man is innocent.”

The singer also used Anu Malik’s example to say that despite a series of serious accusations on him he was offered to return on a TV show and people made excuses for him citing his livelihood and family and were still prepared to work with him.  Similarly speaking with regards to Anurag Kashyap and the women from Bollywood standing up for him Sona said, “As much as I would personally want to just say ki I can really vouch for Anurag, I really can’t. I am no one to even vouch for even my own husband. I am no one to vouch for anybody because when it comes to the Me Too movement in this country we are at too nascent a stage.”

Payal Ghosh has registered an F.I.R against Kashyap but police is yet to take action in the case.
