Sooryavanshi, 83 Release To Be Stalled Till Normalcy Returns In India And Also Big Global Markets, OTT Release Not An Option

Bollywood buffs were deprived of two big films they were really looking forward to due to the coronavirus outbreak, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s ’83. While the trailer for Sooryavanshi was already out and the film was days away from releases, theatres were shut down across the nation putting a halt to the run of films like Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3 and Irrfan Khan’s Angrezi Medium.

While not release dates have been set for the future, post the release of Angrezi Medium on the web, questions arose if biggies like Sooryavanhi or 83 might go the same way. Shutting down all such thoughts before they became rumours, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO, Shibasish Sarkar told Bollywood Hungama, “As per the situation right now, we foresee that even if the normalcy takes another 3-6 months of time, we are mentally clear that we want to give both the films a proper theatrical release.”

For those hoping that these two biggies will release soon after lockdown is over in India, there’s some sad news, Shibasish also made it clear that the film will only release when normalcy returns not just in India, but the bigger global market including North America, Middle East and UK.

Well, doesn’t that sound like a really long wait?
