Sooryavanshi: Akshay Kumar Calls Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe ‘India’s Avengers’; Says ‘Doing Stunts Is Like Going To Disneyland’

After leaving us in awe with his spectacular performance in Good Newwz, the handsome and exceptionally talented Akshay Kumar is all set to win hearts once again with his next film, Sooryavanshi. The much-awaited action thriller is the fourth installment of filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Police Universe after Singham, Singham Returns and Simmba, and also features Katrina Kaif in the lead. The action-packed trailer, which was launched a while ago, proved that the film will live up to the expectations that we have from the Khiladi of Bollywood.

In a recent chat with Mumbai Mirror, the actor opened up about the heavy-duty stunts that he performed and said, “For me, doing stunts is like going to Disneyland; I love it. And it's all real action. It's not the VFX guy in front of the computer making the actor a hero, but the actor, who is working towards becoming one. I can do action for another fourfive years. Then, my age will tell me to back off.” He also revealed his prep for the film and said, “I lost eight-nine kg, as I needed to look like an ATS (Anti Terror Squad) officer.”

While fans are extremely excited to watch Akshay in a cop avatar in Sooryavanshi, the audience was equally overwhelmed to learn that Ranveer Singh aka Simmba and Ajay Devgn aka Singham will play extended cameo roles. Talking about the same, Akki shared, “It's unusual as three actors don't come under one roof on everyday basis. Singham was the first film. Then Rohit introduced Sooryavanshi in Simmba. Now, they come together with me towards the end of my film. Hats off to Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh for agreeing to play small parts in this film.” He went on to add, “It is India's avengers and is very successful. I feel a lot of pressure to ensure that Sooryavanshi does not break the chain towards building a successful cop universe. If this one doesn't run, the chain will be broken.”

Slated to hit theatres on 24th March, which is a Tuesday, Sooryavanshi will be screened 24x7 in Mumbai theatres. Are you going to watch the cop drama?
