South Actress Shraddha Srinath Uses Varun Dhawan & Natasha Dalal Wedding To Point At The Misogyny In The Film Industry

South actress Shraddha Srinath took a jibe at patriarchy at the cost of the newlywed couple Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal recently trying to point out how female actors are treated after marriage in the film industry. After Varun shared the first pictures from his wedding ceremony which many celebs used to congratulate him, the Kannada actress sarcastically wrote how the newlywed actor’s career just got over after his nuptials.

A post in the guise of a congratulatory note was at dig at the common misogynistic belief in the film industry which has been continuing for ages now where actresses' careers are assumed to be finished as soon as they set married. Sharddha in her Instagram story wrote, “Another good actor bites the dust. Sad that we will not see him on screen again. Obviously, his wife and in laws will not be okay with him acting with other heroines. Maybe he will switch to doing male-oriented films? But how to balance personal life and work-life ya. Tough. Will miss him. Congratulations though, Varun. (sic).”

A day after this post went viral on social media, Shraddha followed it up with another story driving her point home. “I took a jibe at patriarchy yesterday. merely switched genders. And it sounded like a joke right? It sounded absurd to you all when lsddo actor will have to retire from work because he's getting married. Why doesn't it sound just as absurd when the same assumptions are made about an actress? P.S - I love you all.”

Actor Varun Dhawan married Natasha Dalal on January 24 in a low key wedding in Alibaug surrounded by their close friends and family only. Varun after the wedding shared pictures from the ceremony announcing his new found married status and wrote, “Life long love just became official.”
