South Star Vijay Sethupathi Who 'Immediately Said Yes' To Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha Talking About Dropping Out

The wait for Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha has been prolonged by an entire year. If all had gone according to the original plans the audiences would still have been realing the aftermath of the film’s theatrical release in December 2020 and the film probably would have seen a cameo of South star Vijay Sethupathi in the film. Well, neither did the film release nor could Vijay keep up his promise of doing a cameo in the film which is still under work.

After Vijay’s prompt yes was followed by his departure from the Bollywood biggie in the making and it led to a lot of speculations around why the actor backed out. Reports had claimed that Vijay was asked to shed a few kilos for project and on failing to do so he was dropped by Aamir Khan. Other reports claimed that Sethupathi didn’t quite like how his character shaped up and thus stepped back.

The South actor has now come clean about what really led him to say no to Laal Singh Chadha after announcing in 2019 that he will be seen in this remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump. Talking to Spoteboye the Master actor revealed, “Aamir Sir personally offered me the role. He flew down to a small town in Tamil Nadu where I was shooting to narrate the script to me. For some reason, the director Advait Chandan couldn’t come. Aamir Sir came alone, narrated the script and stayed overnight in that town and left the next morning. Such a big superstar and no airs. And he is a marvellous storyteller. The way he narrated the story was mesmerizing. I immediately said yes.”

Talking about not being able to do the film he added, “COVID happened. It ransacked all our plans. After the lockdown, I had five Telugu projects in various stages of production to complete. I just couldn’t accommodate Laal Singh Chaddha in my schedule.”

Vijay who sang praises for the Bollywood superstar and called him an inspiration also hoped that he would get an opportunity to collaborate with him in the future.
