While it has always been said that nepotism is a big part of the Indian film industry, it is not a topic which was openly discussed all the time. Well late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise has brought the controversy back to the limelight and this time the debate of insiders vs outsiders is bigger than ever before! Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor Sahil Anand, who made his debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, opened up about the same in a recent interview and made it clear that nepotism obviously exists.

In a chat with ETimes, Sahil stated that female actors are still given a chance but it’s the male actors who face the brunt. He shared, “The industry is run by the males of the species. Show me a filmmaker who launched an outsider as lead hero in recent times? No one is launching an outside guy as a new guy in films. And our mindset has also become like, ‘ ye kiska beta hai?’ People noticed me in SOTY because I did a good job, but after that no one will give me a chance because I am not so and so’s son.”

The actor went on to add, “If you look around, only Ayushmann (Khurrana) and Sushant from outside had made it big. And now Sushant is gone and only Ayushmann is around. Bahut achi kismet le kar aya hai ki abhi tak hai yahan.” Sahil also stated that the system in the industry will never change. He shared that he has seen how every once in a while there comes a wave, much like the nation’s reaction to Sushant’s untimely demise, however it soon subsides and everyone goes back to what they’re doing.
