Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari To Be The First Film To Directly Release In Theatres Post Pandemic?

Theatres are opening and even though the capacity has been reduced to just 50%, people are refraining to come due to the chances of contracting COVID. Utmost security is being taken to ensure safety for all, however, footfalls are low. Only old films are being re-released for the time being and new films are either queuing up on OTT or eyeing for a later release date when more people might be eager to come to theatres and watch the film. Now, it seems like Suraj pe Mangal Bhari might be the first film to release in theatres.

According to a report in Mirror, theatres have opened in Mumbai this week and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari would release next week in theatres directly. But for obvious reasons, it won't be a theatrical release only. A member of Zee Studios said, “I’m hopeful of a Diwali release.” He also added, “Discussions are on with multiplexes, we need to be on the same page on VPF charges, OTT release window, showcasing, and revenue sharing model of box office collections, but I’m not thinking of a digital release at the moment. We have to support our fraternity but we need a longer run for every film as footfalls will be lower."

Well, we hope that the film boosts the confidence in people to actually step inside the theatres. The film wouldn't be releasing on the overseas market. Suraj Pe mangal Bhari stars Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead.
