Sushant Singh Rajput Case: SC Refuses To Grant Protection To Rhea Chakraborty, Questions Confinement Of Bihar Top Cop Vinay Tiwari

Today, the Supreme Court finally held a hearing for the petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of investigation from Bihar to Maharastra. The Supreme Court has also given its verdict.

A few days after Sushant Singh Rajput's father, Mr. K.K. Singh had filed an F.I.R against Rhea Chakraborty for abetment of suicide in Bihar, Rhea Chakraborty had filed a petition to the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of investigation to Mumbai. The petition was heard in the apex court today. The Supreme Court not just denied to grant protection to Rhea from coercive action. Besides, the court questioned why IPS Vinay Tiwari, who was leading the investigation from Bihar Police was quarantined forcibly.

Mr. K.K. Singh's lawyer, Vikas Singh had claimed that the officer was quarantined to destroy evidence. He also alleged that Mumbai Police have already tampered with the evidence. He also opposed Rhea's plea seeking protection.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta also requested that the Centre should be informed about the proceedings in the case. The court has given the Maharastra government and the Mumbai Police 3 days to submit the details of the investigation so far. The next hearing would be held in a week.

The court also granted permission for the CBI investigation on the matter and said that the notification should be made by EOD today.
