Sushant Singh Rajput was to begin filming for Rumi Jafry's rom-com, spoke to the filmmaker two days before his death

Sushant Singh Rajput’s first death anniversary upon us and filmmaker Rumi Jafry who was all set to make a film with the actor before his tragic demise opens about their last conversation. The Chehre filmmaker revealed that he had spoken to Sushant on June at 3 pm. The actor died on June 14 in his Bandra based apartment.

An emotional Rumi while talking to Pinkvilla remembered the actor and recalled how they were all set to take their film on floors in May 2020 but before that could happen the lockdown was imposed in the nation. “We had everything in place, including the music. When a lockdown was announced in March, Sushant was a little concerned about shooting for the film. While we were all optimistic that things would be normal by the end of April, the lockdown kept getting extended,” he tells.

The filmmaker further reveals that since it would have been difficult to shoot a romantic comedy in Covid-19 times, Sushant was looking to do a smaller project that would not need a big crew.

“When things kept getting delayed, he had asked me to find something that’s relatively small, which we could shoot with a smaller unit. Something like say, Rajesh Khanna’s Ittefaq. We were on the lookout for a story. These conversations were happening towards the end of May last year,” Rumi revealed recalling his last conversation with Sushant.

The late actor’s death rattled Bollywood and sparked off many big conversations about nepotism, mental health, drugs in Bollywood and even the alleged fake Me too allegations that the actor had to face.

Sushant was last seen Mukesh Chabbra’s Dil Bechara which released a month after his demise.
